Mark and I just returned from an overnight trip to an awesome Wisconsin rock shop called The Gem Shop~ [link] Mark took me there rock & gem shopping as a surprise birthday gift:heart: We'll be posting some of the amazing rough gem material we came home with over the next week.

Mark also surprised me with a beautiful drawing of our beloved Tokay gecko Helga sitting on Mark's hand looking happy and peaceful. Mark commissioned the piece from the multi-talented Elly Pieper. :iconellygator:

Helga Birthday Drawing

Elly has a series of reptile drawings titled "Enter the Dragon" that I have been in love with since discovering her gallery. I am thrilled to own one of her drawings! Her work is even more impressive in person... the detail she achieved in Helga's drawing is incredible!! Elly captured the peaceful and content expression Helga gets when sitting on Mark's hand perfectly.

Other examples of Elly's "Enter the Dragon" series~

I send a HUGE thank-you to Elly for one of the most beautiful gifts I've ever received:hug: and to Mark for one of the best birthdays I've ever had:love:

** More photos of our beautiful Tokay gecko Helga~

I'm happy to announce that Mark and I will now be the new co-administrators to the Rockhounds club! We're looking forward to helping Cynthia and Henry :iconsoulstonedesigns: with the club:)

Wow, lots of news here.

Awesome drawing, I will have to check out her work.

Happy Birthday!!!

And, congrats on the Rockhound club. I may have to join that one now. I definately could use more education in rocks. The only class in all of my college education that i nerely failed was geology. The professor lectured all semester on volcanos, earthquakes, and such, which I studied diligently for the final. But, then for the final, she laid out a table full of rocks and had us try to identify them, which she never covered in class. I still have nightmares about that exam.

Anyways, sounds like you guys had a fantastic weekend:)

Happy birthday Jessica! Guess it's time to change the profile...:D

Boy, Mark really sprang one on ya! And Elly is SUCH a fantastic artist - I am so going to fav that bearded dragon picture!

And a big congrats on becoming co-administrators! I'd join the party, but I don't know anything about rocks.:sniff: Would love to though.

Ahh.

If you get a chance to hit Burnie's, it's well worth it. I've got a couple of pretty chunks of gem chrysoprase and a flourite so purple it's almost indigo, both of which are almost a pound apiece and for which I paid only $5 each. :)
