This is a very rare specimen.... gem grade strawberry quartz(: We're planning to use this someday for a special set of jewelry.

Wow. It's gorgeous.
I just had my 1st gemology class today. Yikes! So much scientific stuff to memorize. But, once my brain has retained the knowledge, I'll be glad to have it!

wow you never see these crystals anywhere! Lucky you!

Never heard of strawberry quartz. Looks like it may give the queen ruby a run for her money!!! Are you going to facet it? If so, I can hardly wait to see what it looks like! :boogie:

Thanks for the comment(: No... we'll make cabs with it similar to the one in the photo. The reason being that this material has natural flecks that make it sparkle.... the smooth, clear surface of a cabochon will act like a window to see what's inside the gem. We facet clear material to make it reflect light and sparkle... but in this case it would actually take away from the gem if we faceted it. They will be stunning gems(:

We had never heard of this material until about 6 months ago... it's pretty rare stuff. There are other types of quartz called strawberry quartz that don't come close to this material.....you have to know the difference between the genuine article and the junk some people try to pawn off as "strawberry quartz".
