This is a reversible Argentium sterling silver pendant with a 50 carat top quality spectrolite cabochon. One side of this design shows the full beauty of the stone with a simple bezel setting. The second side of this pendant features a pierced and hand engraved floral design that allows the amazing color flash of the stone to show through in the background.
When we finished the pendant I thought the flower looked like it was sitting in front of an incredible sunset! :flame:

Mark made a bail for this pendant that hugs the bezel on the first side and when reversed it gives the appearance that the bail is perfectly floating above the pendant... a very cool effect:)

See link for a photo of the spectrolite cab prior to setting~ [link]
This spectrolite gem was cut by the talented lapidary Gail Clark

GORGEOUS. i agree with the sunset analogy. i love your your floral designs, linking living nature, and "dead" nature (flowers and rocks) :)

Oooh. Spectrolite is related to Labradorite, yes? They look similar to me, except for the color.
One of my favorite stones, and WOW!!! What you have done with it!!! This is my favorite so far.
Simply amazing!!!

Oh yay, you have captured the beauty of the Arora Borealis:D
I love reversible stuff, and with your design work and ability to get great stones, this is stunning either way.
Thanks very much Don!
A reversible pendant seemed like a smart design idea for such a heavy stone. It's a great way to set a larger gem while adding some nice decorative metalwork:)
