This is a reversible Argentium sterling silver pendant with a 50 carat top quality spectrolite cabochon. One side of this design shows the full beauty of the stone with a simple bezel setting. The second side of this pendant features a pierced and hand engraved floral design that allows the amazing color flash of the stone to show through in the background. When we finished the pendant I thought the flower looked like it was sitting in front of an incredible sunset!
Mark made a bail for this pendant that hugs the bezel on the first side and when reversed it gives the appearance that the bail is perfectly floating above the pendant... a very cool effect
See link for a photo of the spectrolite cab prior to setting~ [link] This spectrolite gem was cut by the talented lapidary Gail Clark Original design by Different Seasons Jewelry
Thanks very much Don! A reversible pendant seemed like a smart design idea for such a heavy stone. It's a great way to set a larger gem while adding some nice decorative metalwork
